To connect a WordPress blog to your application, you must install the GoodBarber for WordPress plugin beforehand.
The GoodBarber for WordPress plugin is an extension of JSON API plugin, which is used a lot by the WordPress community. we adopted it to provide secure exchange between your app and your blog, as well as to provide more flexibility in content synchronisation. It should be noted that both plugins are compatible: if you already use JSON API for another service, it will stay compatible with the GoodBarber plugin.
You can check up the GoodBarber plugin presentation in the WordPress plugin directory : http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/goodbarber/
1. Installing the plugin
Go to the administration interface of your WordPress blog. This interface is accessible via an URL like http://www.votreblog.com/wp-admin.
Register with your administrator password.
In the side menu, click on "Plugins", then "Add new".
Enter "goodbarber" in the search field, then launch the search.
Identify the GoodBarber plugin in the search results (there should be the only one, as on the following screenshot).
Click "Install Now", then confirm that you want to begin the installation.
The installation is in process. Once it's finished, click on the link "Activate plugin".
2. How to get your GoodBarber Key
The GoodBarber plugin is now installed on your WordPress.
Now you need to get the GoodBarber Key that you must enter in your WordPress backoffice.
In the side menu, click on "Settings", then "GoodBarber Api".
The GoodBarber Key is a string of figures, that appears in bold on the configuration page of GoodBarber plugin. You will easily identify it.
3. Add a WordPress section in your GoodBarber backoffice
Go to your GoodBarber back office, menu Builder > Sections > Add a section > Articles.
Select a the source "WordPress" on the list.
Name the section, then in the settings, enter your website URL as well as your GoodBarber API Key that you got in the previous step.
Please note that in order to properly set up your Wordpress, you should only use the main website url. For example, www.abc.com
and not www.abc.com/categories/sections/news.
Enter the website url and then use filters in the backoffice to reflect the categories or subsections you have in your wordpress.
Click on the "Add" button.
Here you are! Your WordPress source is now connected to your application.
4. GoodBarber plugin options for WordPress
On the configuration page of the GoodBarber for WordPress plugin (menu "Settings > GoodBarber Api" in your WordPress backoffice) you will find some options that you can activate or deactivate, if you wish so.
You can disable comments to your WordPressblog directly from your application. We don't recomment to do this, because it can be frustrating for your readers. To disable comments via the GoodBarber for WordPress plugin, uncheck the box and click on save.
NB : By default, this option is activated at the moment of plugin installation.
If you wish, you can activate securing exchanges between your application and your WordPress blog: then only GoodBarber servers could communicate with the GoodBarber for WordPress plugin. To activate this option, check the appropriate box and save results.
NB : By default, this option is deactivated at the moment of plugin installation.
5. Alternative (advanced) installation method
If you can not follow the procedure described above, you can install the GoodBarber for WordPress plugin in the same manner as any other WordPress plugin.
To do this, dowload the plugin zip file from the WordPress plugin directory and decompress it in the "wp-content/plugins" folder at the bottom of your blog by using your FTP client.
Once the plugin is installed, don't forget to activate it in your WordPress backoffice.
